Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth, the enigmatic stuntman from Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 hit film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” in a new spin-off movie directed by David Fincher. Titled “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,” the film will continue to explore Booth’s character as he navigates the evolving landscape of Hollywood. Scheduled for a two-week global IMAX release starting November 25, the movie will later be available for streaming on Netflix from December 23.
Quentin Tarantino, who brought Booth to life in the original film, has penned the screenplay for the upcoming project. However, he has opted not to direct, citing his desire not to conclude his directing career with a sequel, even though he remains passionate about Booth’s story. Set in 1977, eight years after the events of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” the film will delve deeper into Booth’s life as he comes to terms with a transformed Hollywood.
The cast of the film promises a star-studded ensemble, featuring talents such as Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian alongside Pitt. The original film, which took audiences to the Los Angeles of the late 1960s, showcased Pitt alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
Taking the helm as director is David Fincher, known for his work on acclaimed films like “Fight Club,” “Zodiac,” “The Social Network,” and “Gone Girl.” Fincher has also directed popular Netflix series such as “House of Cards” and “Mindhunter.” His involvement promises to bring a unique creative direction to the project, distinguishing it from Tarantino’s previous works.
