Swiss athlete Audrey Werro delivered a breathtaking performance in the women’s 800m event at the Paris Diamond League, edging closer to shattering one of the most enduring records in athletics. At just 22 years of age, Werro clocked an impressive time of 1:53.28, positioning herself as the third-fastest woman ever in this distance. Her remarkable showing reinforces her bid to challenge Jarmila Kratochvilova’s long-standing world record, highlighting her as a standout figure in middle-distance running.

During the race, Werro skillfully tracked the pacemaker before making her decisive move in the final stages. Although she fell just short of the world record, her performance solidified her status among the sport’s elite. Among her key competitors is Britain’s Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, with both athletes poised to vie for historic achievements in upcoming major events.

The Paris Diamond League also witnessed a significant upset in the men’s 100m, where Trayvon Bromell triumphed over world champion Noah Lyles. Bromell clinched victory with a time of 9.91 seconds, narrowly edging out Lyles by 0.01 seconds after capitalizing on Lyles’ sluggish start.

In other notable events, Cameron Myers set a national record in the men’s 1500m, securing the win, while Georgia Hunter Bell continued her impressive season with a victory in the women’s 1500m. The Paris Diamond League once again served as a stage for elite performances, allowing several athletes to build momentum ahead of the most significant competitions of the season.
